We are here to introduce the sport of outrigger canoe racing and recreational paddling for fitness, cross training for dragon boat paddlers seeking the exceptional cross-training experience. Members can train for long distance races anywhere from Novice races (6-13 km), after 2 years of paddling, you can paddle an Open race (20-24 km), sprint races from 500-1500 meters. The origin of the outrigger canoe racing dates back to the Polynesians, the Hawaiians are most noted for their hand carved canoes with the pontoons off to the one side. EOCC is offering a chance to paddle an outrigger canoe on the North Saskatchewan River near Fort Edmonton Park. We are a non- profit club, operating out of Fort Edmonton Park. Join as a Member or just drop in. All participants are required to join CORA (for insurance coverage) and must sign a waiver before participating in OC paddling. Ages 18 and up. |

2012 Membership: $150.00 which includes insurance, instruction/training and use of Club equipment. Drop in fee: $25.00 (one time) CORA fee plus $10.00 for Two (2) practices, if after that an individual decides to join, then all drop in fees and CORA fees go directly towards a yearly Membership. One time drop in fee: $10.00 CORA fee plus $10.00 practice fee. * EOCC season runs from spring thaw to the end of September. * 2011 Practice Schedule May - September (depending on weather and water levels of the North Saskatchewan)

The Edmonton Outrigger Canoe Club (EOCC) is awaiting the delivery of a new OC1 C-Lion. EOCC has an adaptive program for individuals with disabilities in the hopes of raising the quality of life for Alberta citizens by having them experience the outdoors in an Outrigger Canoe on the North Saskatchewan River in the heart of Edmonton. |
